It was 1796 when Benedetto Elia, nicknamed "Paitin", purchased the farmhouse near Neive, in Piedmont. Years later Giuseppe expanded the vineyard area and purchased the splendid underground cellars dedicated to the aging of the wines. In 1898 the company began to strengthen its ties with foreign countries by offering its wine for export, while in 1893 the "Sorì Paitin" was bottled for the first time, considered in all respects one of the first Barbarescos in history.
