The beginning of the history of the Giacomo Conterno winery is conventionally dated back to 1908 when Giovanni Conterno and his family (including Giacomo, one of his three sons), returning to Italy after emigrating to Argentina, opened an inn, producing wine, in the hamlet of San Giuseppe near Monforte d'Alba: that is, at the meeting point of the town. Giacomo therefore grew up between the inn and the winery, until he went to fight as an artilleryman in the First World War. Once back home, he devoted himself entirely to the production of wine, leading it to be sold not only in Piedmont and Liguria, but throughout Italy.
The Barolo Francia is elegant with well-integrated acidity and a substantial body. Aromas of cherry, blackberry and mulberry.
