The beginning of the history of the Giacomo Conterno winery conventionally dates back to 1908 when Giovanni Conterno and his family (including Giacomo, one of the three sons), who returned to Italy after emigrating to Argentina, started an inn, producing wine, in the hamlet of San Giuseppe near Monforte d'Alba: that is, at the meeting point of the town. Giacomo therefore grew up between the tavern and the cellar, until he went to fight as an artilleryman in the First World War. Back home, he devoted himself entirely to the production of wine, leading it to be sold not only in Piedmont and Liguria, but throughout Italy.

Barolo Monfortino is an icon among the great Italian wines which is recognized for its aromatic power, its great cleanliness on the nose and the extraordinary expression of its aromas in the mouth. A wine that once tried leaves no way out!
