Alphonse Mellot, Loire

The "La Moussière" estate extends for more than 30 hectares on a limestone territory facing south. Working the soil becomes an essential act: the root and its numerous ramifications sink into the belly of the parent rock and feed on the simple dissolution of minerals. At the same time all the necessary care is given to the vineyard: pruning, care of the lacerations, strict check of the quality of the stomata of the leaf unique receptacle of light, capable of synthesizing the minerals from the sky, green harvest, the vineyard cannot let it ripen more fruit than it can feed. Harvesting done by hand and transported in small crates, to bring the grapes to the press without damaging them in any way. It is only in these conditions that the different cuvées can best express all their peculiarities. A Domaine that particularly cares about the processes that take place between the vineyard and the cellar. This is why we at Enolora focused on the extraordinary ability of these wines to captivate and involve the taster with their beautiful depth and sapidity given by these lands immersed in a breathtaking landscape.

Siro Pacenti, Montalcino

The Pacenti company was born in 1970 with the purchase of the property north of Montalcino, in Pelagrilli, by Siro. These are the years in which some important vineyards are planted, still existing on the clayey and fresh soils of the side facing Siena. In 1988, management passed to Giancarlo. It is the year of the harvest in which the Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino Siro Pacenti are bottled for the first time. In the early 1990s, the company grew by merging some lands south of Montalcino. Here, on soils rich in minerals, a five-hectare vineyard was planted at the end of the 1960s by Giancarlo's maternal grandfather (from which the Sangiovese rooted cuttings are currently reproduced for the new plantings) which will prove to be particularly important in the determine the characteristics of the wines of Siro Pacenti. The collaboration with the University of Bordeaux and the first experiments on phenolic maturity applied to Sangiovese began in these years. Between 2001 and 2004, the new cellar was built, where technology and experience come together in respect of the grapes and the land. The twenty-two hectares of vineyards are entirely planted with Sangiovese, which in Montalcino finds its maximum expression in purity. Where a great land, a climate and an exceptional exposure meet man's know-how, Sangiovese is able to produce a wine that is not only great, but absolutely unique.
