The Maison du Champagne Bollinger was born in 1829 thanks to the meeting between Athanase de Villermont and the German Joseph Bollinger who left Germany to discover the world of wine. The company achieved success with Madame Bollinger who revolutionized production by launching an ambitious modernization and sale of numerous vineyards also in the Reims area. Since then Bollinger has taken off and today owns 168 hectares of land divided between Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier and is one of the most awarded Maisons ever.

Entirely unique in Champagne, Bollinger's "Vieilles Vignes Françaises" is a living reminder of what champagne used to be like - back in the pre-phylloxera days. In Aÿ and Bouzy some parcels franc de pied (i.e. not grafted) have survived. The cuvée is produced from these centenary grafts. Processed in the traditional way, the vines produce grapes that are vinified according to the now millenary champenoise. The grapes thus reach greater maturity while maintaining very low pH levels ... the sign of a great champagne. Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Françaises is a full-bodied, round, complete champagne. Unique.
